Justice For All

Sen. Bob Rucho, left, helped push through a renewable energy bill supported by Rep. Mike Hager (right).

I wonder if bad press has any influence on these people, or the public...with these lawmakers being elected year after year? This is just a small example in the melting pot of the world of government.

A great majority of the people I've known throughout my life, really think the people they vote for within their "party" are all good and law abiding.  "We elected them to do what is right for us."  Sorry, Charlie, it doesn't work that way anymore.  "The love of money is the root of all evil."  And you can quote me (or the Bible) on that.

As I grew up, I don't recall my family talking about politics, I'm sure they must have, but we were too busy being kids, playing outdoors and enjoying our self-centered world.  I just followed in my parents' footsteps (prints) and attitudes, through the daily routine of living.

After I married, living away from home, I held responsibilities, and part of those responsibilities meant voting, and wanting to know who and what I was voting for. I'm the naturally curious type.  I tried to read about these people, but you have to realize we didn't have computers, or news sources that covered every last detail of these people's' lives. Television became a major news source then.

Though the voices of Activism started speaking out in the US, most people thought these discontents were either nuts or just plain wrong, since we came from a conservative don't-rock-the-boat generation - they were outspoken and belligerent, just the opposite of who we were.  My generation and older are still around and most are still resigned, although I do try to interject a little of my not always welcome sense of logic to friends and family.

Everything I've been connected with throughout my life, whether it was the school system's government; city government; church government; community social governments; it's all been a learning experience, and not always a pleasant one.  Standing up for what you believe can be both rewarding and heartbreaking.  I weigh both sides, but I know I did what I had to do.

Nothing will ever change until people realize we can have a right, and should have a right, to have a say in our future.

Unfortunately, the negative naysayers won't care until they are forced to get involved, feeling morally right or wrong to take a stand, or find their world is crumbling around them.  You have to care!

Do we see enlightenment in our future or do we see complacency, relying on the way it's always been....?

I believe in being in the forward moving causeway, seeing the future as fair and just for everyone, equality that serves everyone the same.  Some call this socialism, some call it communism, maybe it's not realistic, but I simply call it Justice For All.

The world as I see it is a big place, a place of multicultural peoples who hold their own beliefs, self-centered for some, and unjust to many.  They have their rights to believe what they want, as long as it doesn't encroach or force itself on my beliefs.  Live and let live!

Overwhelmed, at times,  seeing I may not have that many years left to make a change, baby steps seems to be in my future, within my own circle of knowledge and friends.  It's the only way I can move forward without becoming heartbroken and overwhelmed in this world of unrest, a world too big for me to change.

I give my hope in making sure my grandkids will be as educated in this world around them as humanly possible, showing them that justice should be and can be for all, but never with wars, and never with complacency, but by working with love for each other.
